[Verse 1:] Walkin' in the darkness, it's a place he calls hell, The place he calls home is on the streets or in jail. Dodging bullets and always runnin' away from the cops, Doin' drugs when you know that your mother wants you to stop. Growin' up in a home when all you depend on is the trigger, The only one who taught you to be a man was your mother, Because daddy wasn't home, he was out gettin' drunk, Then he would come home sayin' that his life was gettin' stuck. So mom couldn't pay the bills or put the clothes on your back, Or even food on the table, things are gettin' off track. Not goin' to school, because you're out on the streets, But bein' a NBA player was always your dream. Only the age of fourteen, it's like you're livin' on your own, Sellin' drugs to get cash to bring a Mother's Day gift home, But a kiss and a hug is all that you could give, So he starts to think that he wants a better life than this. [Chorus:] Every day and night a new story develops Of a young child who goes through the downs and the ups. Each person has a dream, so take control, cease the moment, Lift your heart to the clouds, embrace it, and you better hold it. Dreamin' that they'll see the sunshine one day, Shinnin' down upon their face instead of the rain. You hold your hands together and reach for the sky, You're God's angels too, so spread your wings and fly. [Verse 2:] Meet a young lady of the age of thirteen, Who was in love with the perfect man of her dreams. He told her exactly what she wanted to hear, He told her that he loved her and they both knew it was clear. But things got a little heavy around 9:00 one night, He told her to trust him and everything would be all right. 9 months later a baby boy was born, a life in her arms, The father kissin' her, feelin' the love strong and warm. But her mother found out and she wouldn't take her in, Her mother lookin' at her like she did a terrible sin. She had no choice, but to go to her son's daddy's house, But when she got there he was nowhere to be found. A couple hours later she heard a bullet shot, He was killed in a drive-by bullet walkin' from the block. Now her son has to grow up and live without a daddy, She wants to change her life for her son to live happy. [Verse 3:] Baby sister and big brother walkin' the streets, Lookin' for a place where they could eat and sleep, Because mommy died when they both we're very little, And daddy didn't want them, 'cause he wasn't ready to settle. Now baby sister's turnin' five and big brother's already seven, Every night big brother prays to mommy up in heaven, Wishin' that baby sister can get a birthday wish, To blow out her candles and to get alot of gifts. But every night it's tears before they go to bed, A box is where they lay, on side painted red. Big brother hangs a paper above baby sister, It reads "Happy Birthday sis, hope it's the best one ever." They only have themselves for this life they must live, Both dreams of goin' to school to givin' all they could give. Brother holds baby sister as the night's becomin' low, Whisperin', "I love you sis, I won't ever let you go." [Chorus:] Every day and night a new story develops Of a young child who goes through the downs and the ups. [Speaking:] Everyone has a story and a dream, no matter what it is, they have one. Just like you and me, we all dream, so embrace it. Thank you mom and dad for giving me life, my brothers and sister for the love. My whole family for your support, everyone thank you.
