Song: Batallia Downs Artist: Naoshi Mizuta Album: Final Fantasy XI Soundtrack I started tabbing out the Batallia Downs soundtrack, because I've always liked this song. Unfortunately, I stopped in the middle. It's almost completed and the rest sounds mostly to be slight variations of what I've tabbed out already. There is only one exception. The rythem guitar changed slightly in two places. The first place is right after the sitar comes in (essentially at the end of this transcription). The second time occurs around 3:43 or so. I am confident that this transcription is almost exactly the same as the original transcription. Any comments, suggestions or corrections can be e-mailed to me at: mah77@cornell.edu. ======================================================== I'll start with the intro, which sounds like it is played on an accoustic guitar that is amplified electrically. To match the sound found on the soundtrack, I find it's easiest to start by matching the low bass note on the intro. 0:03 E|---------------------------------------------| B|---------------------------------------------| G|---------------------------------------------| D|------------12----10-------------9----10-----| A|-------------9-----7-------------9-----7-----| E|----5------------------0--5-5----------------| 0:07 E|---------------------------------------------| B|---------------------------------------------| G|---------------------------------------------| D|------------12----10-------------9--9-10-----| A|-------------9-----7-------------9--9--7-----| E|-0--5------------------0--5------------------| 0:11 E|---------------------------------------------| B|---------------------------------------------| G|---------------------------------------------| D|------------12----10-------------9----10-----| A|-------------9-----7-------------9-----7-----| E|-0--5------------------0--5-5----------------| 0:15 E|---------------------------------------------| B|---------------------------------------------| G|---------------------------------------------| Repeat D|------------12----10-------------9--9--7-----| A|-------------9-----7-------------9--9--7-----| E|-0--5------------------0--5------------------| NOTE: This pattern is not repeated exactly. Throughout the rest of the song, the order of these simple riffs are shuffled. Listen closely to the soundtrack for the exact order. What follows is the lead. I'm not sure of the instrument. Perhaps it's a flute? Although I have not explicitly written it below, I find that it helps to use vibrato on most of these notes to better match the sound of the flute. Perhaps there are some combination of effects that could improve it further. Or (in my opinion), better yet would be to make it sound more like the sitar that you hear later in the song throughout the entire piece. 0:36 E|----------------------------------------------| B|----------------------------------------------| G|--14-----12--14--12-----12-----11--12--11-----| D|----------------------------------------------| A|----------------------------------------------| E|----------------------------------------------| 0:43 E|--------------------------------| B|--------------------------------| G|--11---------9--11-----9--9-----| D|---------12---------------------| A|--------------------------------| E|--------------------------------| 0:53 E|----------------------------------------------| B|----------------------------------------------| G|--14-----12--14--12-----12-----11--12--11-----| D|----------------------------------------------| A|----------------------------------------------| E|----------------------------------------------| 1:01 E|----------------------------------| B|----------------------------------| G|--11---------9--11-----13--14-----| D|---------12-----------------------| A|----------------------------------| E|----------------------------------| At this point, play the intro sequence again. Then continue below with the flute instrument, repeating the previous lead, this time one octave higher than before. 1:27 E|--17-----15--17--15-----15-----14--15--14-----| B|----------------------------------------------| G|----------------------------------------------| D|----------------------------------------------| A|----------------------------------------------| E|----------------------------------------------| 1:36 E|--14---------12--14-----12--12-----| B|---------15------------------------| G|-----------------------------------| D|-----------------------------------| A|-----------------------------------| E|-----------------------------------| 1:44 E|--17-----15--17--15-----15-----14--15--14-----| B|----------------------------------------------| G|----------------------------------------------| D|----------------------------------------------| A|----------------------------------------------| E|----------------------------------------------| 1:53 E|--14---------12--14-----16--17-----| B|---------15------------------------| G|-----------------------------------| D|-----------------------------------| A|-----------------------------------| E|-----------------------------------| The lead continues, this time with a sitar. 2:03 E|-------------------------------------------| B|-------------------------------------------| G|--12---------9--10-----12--10-----9--9-----| D|---------12--------------------------------| A|-------------------------------------------| E|-------------------------------------------| I apologize for not tabbing out the rest. I hope to get around to it soon, but until I do, I thought that it would be better to submit what I currently have.
