  Jack Johnson
~ Rocky Racoon ~

E Standard Tuning
This is the version that Jack played for iHeartRadio,
it can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1kHfG0qrk0
It's fairly simple, I'd say the hardest part is getting the rhythm down and probably the stretch from
A in the bass to G#. The focus is really in the bass too, there's not as much emphasis put on the higher
strings for the second part of the song. I do recommend watching the video if you want to sing along,
Jack's flow can be pretty difficult to mimic going off this tab. Enjoy, anyway.

The chords used are:

F#m: 244222
B: X24442
E: 022100

Rhythm 2:
The Xs here are a sort of slap on the strings, which Jack does a lot in his songs. They're basically
frethand mutes, but using your strumming hand to slap the strings with the back of your fingernails. A
pick can be used too, I think it just sounds better with a hand. They're where a lot of the rhythm comes
from.

Intro: F#m, B, E, A A/G#,

F#m
Well somewhere in the Black Mountain Hills of Dakota
B
Lived a young boy named Rocky Raccoon,
E A
One day his woman ran off with another guy,
A/G# F#m
And it hit young Rocky in the eye.

Rocky didn't like that
         B
He said, "I'm gonna get that boy".
   E
So one day he walked into town
                             A A/G#
Booked himself a room in the local saloon.

F#m B
Rocky Raccoon checked into his room,
E A A/G#
But only to find Gideon's Bible.
F#m B
Rocky had come, equipped with a gun,
   E A A/G#
To shoot off the legs of his rival.
    F#m B
His rival it seems, had broken his dreams,
   E A A/G#
By stealing the girl of his fancy.
    F#m B
Her name was Magill, but she called herself Lil,
    E A A/G#
And everyone knew her as Nancy.
     F#m B
Well she and her man, who called himself Dan,
     E A A/G#
Were in the next room at the hoe down.
     F#m B
Well Rocky burst in, and grinning a grin,
       E A A/G#
Said, "Danny boy, this is a showdown".
    F#m B
But Danny was hot, and he drew first and shot,
    E A A/G#
And Rocky collapsed in the corner.

    F#m B
The doctor came in, and stinking of gin,
   E A A/G#
Proceeded to lie on the table.
          F#m
He said, "Rocky, you met your match".
          B
He said, "No Doc, you know it's only a scratch.
            E A A/G#
And I'll be better Doc, I will be better, as soon as I am able".

   F#m B
So Rocky Raccoon, he fell back in his room,
    E A A/G#
But only to find Gideon's Bible.
    F#m B
And Gideon checked out, well he left it, no doubt,
   E A A/G#
To help with good Rocky's revival.
